Loyalty – Standing Steadfast in Character
Bismillāh.
This is a reminder first to myself, written in need, not from a place of knowing, but hoping.
If it benefits you too, then All Praise is due to Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى alone.
In a world of quick friendships and even quicker fallouts, loyalty feels rare.
Loyalty isn’t based on convenience in our Deen — it’s based on Imaan, shared goals, and sincerity.
To be loyal is to stick around when it’s no longer easy.
To remember someone in your du‘a, even when they’re not present.
To correct them gently when they slip, and stand by them when they repent.
Loyalty shouldn’t enable wrong. Loyalty should encourage us to stay sincere through change, disappointment, and growth.
💬 A Letter to Myself
Dear self,
Don’t love people for how they make you feel - love them for Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى’s sake.
That way, when the feelings shift or the dynamic changes, your loyalty remains rooted.
Be the one who stays when it’s awkward, supports when it’s inconvenient, and loves through the ups and downs.
🧭 What I’m Trying to Strengthen
🌱 1. Love That’s Principled
Supporting others in truth, not flattery
Wanting khayr for my people, even in my absence
Gently advising, not harshly criticising
🎯 2. Being Present Through Tests
Checking in when I notice retreat
Making du‘a for those I’ve drifted from
Offering presence without pressure
📜 3. Letting Go Without Malice
If we part ways, part with a clean heart
Avoid backbiting or “post-break” gossip
Remember our connection may have been for a season - but it can still be honourable
📝 Practical Ways to Show Loyalty
Keep a list of people to regularly make du‘a for - especially those who’ve supported you in the past
When tempted to criticise someone who’s no longer close, pause and say: “Ya Allah, grant them goodness.”
Celebrate others’ growth, even if it means they grow past you
Be a safe space for others’ return. Especially after mistakes or distance

— Sūrah al-Ḥujurāt (49:10)
“None of you will have faith until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.”
— (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2515)
“The most complete of the believers in faith, is the one with the best character among them. And the best of you are those who are best to your women.”

🌸 Final Reflections
Loyalty aids in creating sincere relationships for us in sha’ Allah.
And if your love for someone is rooted in love for Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى,
it will outlast distance, time, and even silence.
May we be companions who encourage one another toward Jannah, together.
With love always,
still striving, still learning — your sister in need of Allah.
