The Tenth Habit: Living the Qur’an and Sunnah, Every Single Day

Bismillāh.

This is a reminder first to myself, written in need, not from a place of knowing, but hoping.
If it benefits you too, then All Praise is due to Allah سبحانه وتعالى alone.

Islam is not just something we believe - it is something we live.
The Qur’an is not a seasonal read. The Sunnah is not just for lectures.
Both were sent to shape our character, our choices, and our everyday interactions.

“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most upright…”
Sūrah al-Isrā’ (17:9)

Every moment becomes meaningful when it’s guided by revelation. But in a world full of distractions and distorted priorities, we have to be intentional. Prioritising Allah سبحانه وتعالى’s words and the Prophet’s ﷺ example into our smallest habits.

💬 A Letter to Myself

Dear self,
It’s easy to know what’s right and forget to live it.
You have memorised ayaat but have you let them soften your anger?
You’ve heard the Sunnah but do your daily choices reflect it?

Start small.
Speak kindly. Eat with gratitude. Greet with warmth. Forgive. Lower your gaze. Give silently. Make wudhu beautifully.

Let your life become a sincere pursuit of Allah سبحانه وتعالى’s pleasure.

🧬 What I’m Trying to Build

Simple ways to bring the Qur’an and Sunnah into everyday actions:

📖 1. Choose One Ayah to Live by Weekly

  • Write it down. Reflect on it. Ask: How can I apply this in action in line with the understanding of the Salaf?

  • E.g., “Indeed, Allah loves those who rely upon Him” (3:159) → more du‘a, less worry.

📊 2. Practice One Sunnah Daily

  • Siwaak before ṣalāh. Entering the home with Salaam. Saying “Alhamdulillāh” after sneezing.

  • Small acts with huge reward.

💡 3. Respond to Life with Dhikr

  • Good news? Alhamdulillāh.

  • Fear? Ḥasbunallāh wa ni‘mal-wakīl.

  • Mistake? Astaghfirullāh.

  • Tired? Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh.

🌸 4. Mirror the Character of the Prophet ﷺ

  • He was gentle, not harsh. Forgiving, not petty. Modest, not boastful.

  • Begin with those around you. Your family, siblings, friends.

📅 5. Keep a Qur’an and Sunnah Log

  • Note one thing you acted upon today from the deen.

  • Reflect: How did it impact your behaviour or mood?

🧱 Start Small, Stay Consistent

  • Pick one Sunnah to reintroduce weekly and one ayah to reflect on.

  • Make Qur’an part of your daily schedule, even 5 minutes counts in sha’ Allah.

  • Remember: living Islam is most valuable.

📖 Qur’an and Sunnah Anchor

“And We have certainly made the Qur’an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?”
Sūrah al-Qamar (54:17)

“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example…”
Sūrah al-Aḥzāb (33:21)

🧵 Final Reflections

You are not just here to read the Qur’an. You are here to apply it.
You are not just here to admire the Sunnah. You are here to embody it.

Let your life, the ordinary parts, the quiet parts - become acts of worship.
Because a day lived with Taqwa is a day well lived.

Sincerely,
still striving, still learning —
your sister in need of Allah.
